In a recent interview with the BBC, President Obama informed editor Jon Sopel that if asked what has been "the one area where I feel that I've been most frustrated and most stymied, it is the fact that the United States of America is the one advanced nation on Earth in which, we do not have sufficient common-sense gun safety laws, even in the face of repeated mass killings."

Obama did not bother to explain how his most vigorously pursued "gun control" priorities would have prevented any of these mass killings. The "universal background check," so beloved of the gun ban zealots, would have made no difference whatsoever in the high profile mass killings of recent years. These killers either passed the vaunted checks, or acquired their firepower by theft.

The percentage of shooting deaths in which the weapon used was a so-called "assault weapon" is tiny--take away every "assault weapon death," and any change in the statistics would be nearly imperceptible. So called high-capacity magazines have played a similarly insignificant role in the percentage of shooting deaths in this country.

But all that is really beside the point. The most notable aspect of this is that in the entire six-and-a-half years of his Presidency to date, what makes him the "most frustrated" is his inability to infringe on that which shall not be infringed. He feels the "most stymied" in his endeavors to deprive the American people of their Constitutionally guaranteed, fundamental human right of the people to keep and bear arms.

It is perhaps not surprising that he feels that way, but that he has the audacity to admit to the intensity of his desire to disarm the citizenry--and to make that admission on national (or international, really) TV, speaks volumes. The gloves are off, and he is not even making an effort to pretend to have any concerns for the rights of American gun owners.

And he made clear in the interview that his forcible citizen disarmament campaign is far from over:

And you know, if you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it's less than 100. If you look at the number that have been killed by gun violence, it's in the tens of thousands. And for us not to be able to resolve that issue has been something that is distressing. But it is not something that I intend to stop working on in the remaining 18 months.

We have seen that Obama has no compunction about bypassing the legislative process altogether, imposing new restrictions not through new laws, but by executive fiat. His latest effort would conscript the Social Security Administration into his War on Gun Owners. This could affect millions of Social Security benefits recipients, and turn many thousands of them into instant felony "gun criminals."

He has seen fit to take out his "frustrations" on some of the most vulnerable Americans--the elderly and disabled. Now he wants them disarmed and defenseless, too. Oddly, he didn't get around to explaining which mass shootings have been carried out by Social Security beneficiaries.

The American way of life may someday (someday soon) be preserved only by armed American citizens--the very people who most frustrate him. Clearly, we need to keep the frustrations coming.
