With the recent fiasco in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we've seen with our own eyes that our "leaders" are incapable of responding to disasters for which they had advance notice. How much more inept will they be in the face of a surprise attack from terrorists?

Tonight at sundown we begin our celebration of Rosh Hashana (New Year). During this time, our synagogues and temples are even more at risk of terrorist attacks. And it will be up to us to be the first line of defense against those who would harm us in our houses of worship or elsewhere.
