We read:
Deut. 8:3: "And He afflicted you and let you go hungry, and then fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your forefathers know, so that He would make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but rather by, whatever comes forth from the mouth of the Lord does man live."
Manna was miraculous food that appeared out of nowhere.
Bread is created with great effort, intensive tillage and much investment of time.
Manna teaches us that the One is the ultimate source of life -independent of our perception of nature and our effort.
Manna flows from the desire to give by creating and sustaining.
Bread teaches us that nature, our effort and their ultimate fruition are no less extensions of the One, Creator and Sustainer.
Bread flows from the desire to give by creating and sustaining.
